Making sense of the many polls with conflicting results
With each election season there are more polls conducted to measure public opinion about the candidates and election races. As there are more polls conducted, it seems there are more conflicting results among the various polls. Tracking polls released today are case in point. The Gallup Tracking poll released today shows President Obama and Mitt Romney both tied at 47 percent. However, the QStarNews Daily Tracking Poll released today shows Mitt Romney leading 55 percent to 45 percent. A look at the polls listed on Real Clear Politics shows polls ranging between tied to Obama leading by eight points and many in between. How can the polls, that claim to survey the public and measure the same public opinion and asking the same questions, vary so much?
